Week 24: Slothing cont'd

Here we are at Week 24: happy, healthy and...oh, wait -- not entirely true! I got a small version of a humungo flu Andrea had so I worked from home two days. I went back today and am tired again, but almost back to my 100% self.

Big news in the household is that Andrea did great on a very big and important exam, despite the above-mentioned humungo flu! Congrats Andrea!

Other than that...stomach is stretching (me: "But there's no more ROOM"), my mind is moving at 1,000 mph while my body is moving more or less at 2, further reinforcing my self-made nickname "Il Bradipo" ("Sloth" in Italian).

See ya next week!

Pictures don't do it justice, really

23 weeks...

I swear, it seems enormous in person! Somehow pictures make it seem pretty miniscule, but it *is* there, and she *is* kicking up a storm. Things I've discovered about Double already:

1. She either really loves or really hates loud music.
2. If I position myself too much on my stomach at night, she will kick until I move.
3. She is more active when I'm relaxed (i.e. trying to sleep!).

We also went for a quick ultrasound on Monday, just so my doctor could measure her spinal column (she was moving around too much last time). And wouldn't ya know it - as soon as we turned on the machine, she was already positioned perfectly with her back to us and proceeded to lay there calmly while my doctor took all the necessary measurements and pictures. She's either very obedient, or she was giving us the finger from the other side, hidden away where we couldn't see her. Andrea and I are both sure (and, well, hoping!) it's the latter =)

22 weeks

Ok, things are starting to feel very...HEAVY! My own body, moving from point A to point B, working all day, trying to get comfortable at night...everything seems to weigh more, and my body - I do believe - is on a 10-second time delay.

Things I've learned so far about pregnancy:

1. There is no such thing as a graceful pregnant woman.
2. Nine months is a freaking long time.
3. Nine months is no time at all.
4. Figuring out what baby stuff you may need to buy or have is wayyyy more stressful than any worries about birthing, or mothering for that matter.
5. My husband is the most awesome and loving, supportive, funniest, kindest, smartest human being in the history of human beings.

I'm sure I'll have more to share later on...I've still got 18 weeks of this!! (oh god, I still have 18 weeks of this...)

IT'S A GIRL!!!!!!!

Yay, we can finally stick with one pronoun!! Mark one up for Fatherly instinct - Andrea knew it all along!

The ultrasound was great - she's growing at a great rate (13 ounces), all her parts and organs and limbs seem to be in the right place and she's very active and - if I may say so myself - ADORABLE!!

Happy Family

I decided it wasn't fair that Andrea wasn't getting any play in this whole pregnancy photo deal. So here ya go, the happy family!
